This past Saturday marked a historic moment for South African netball with the first-ever Coaches & Umpires Indaba hosted by Netball South Africa (NSA). The event brought together young, aspiring coaches and umpires alongside seasoned professionals, creating a space for learning, mentorship, and celebration of the people who drive the sport forward. It was an honor to serve our netball community and witness the passion and dedication of everyone involved.
One of the most emotional highlights of the day was the presentation of appreciation and lifetime awards to the pioneers on whose shoulders the current generation stands. Being part of this chapter in South African netball history is a privilege that I will forever cherish.
A heartfelt thank you goes to NSA President Mami Diale for her exceptional leadership and for bringing an idea from last year to life. Gratitude also extends to the NSA Executive Committee for supporting creative initiatives and to every coach, umpire, and administrator whose presence made the event a success.
The speakers were truly inspiring, showcasing the immense talent and commitment present within South African netball. Events like this remind us of the power of collaboration, mentorship, and dedication to growing the sport we love. Here’s to creating more opportunities to empower, inspire, and elevate netball across the country!
